Update about the Foundation’s General Fund

Update about Northshore Schools Foundation to supporters April 1, 2020.

As you know, our largest fundraiser of the year was canceled. But your contribution, along with other donors,  the support of our All In for Kids Event Sponsors, and our Annual Foundation Sponsors, we are actually at 50% of our event fundraising goal. That’s something we never imagined possible when we were unable to open our doors to welcome you on March 24th.

We are incredibly grateful.  With these funds, we will be ready to provide students and teachers with the critical programs and services they need to be inspired and innovative when they return to the classroom.

We may need to make some operating adjustments for the coming year. We’ll be ready to do so if necessary. The Foundation exists to support students and teachers across the district, and that is our continuing priority.

We have been delighted to hear that some of our funded grants are being put to use during this classroom to cloud era. For instance, math whiteboards funded by Foundation donors were sent home with some students so they could do their work and then show it during Zoom lessons.

We also heard from Mrs. Schmidt at Eastridge Elementary, who is using NSF-funded Ozobot Bit Robots.

I’ve used the robots with every class, including this year, which is 3rd class using the robots,” she said. “While the current class does not have the robots at home with them, the experience of programming, using Google Blockly Language, does transfer with their Code.Org work and with their Tynker programming work which they are able to do at home.”
