Northshore Youth Voice

Northshore Youth Voice

Northshore Youth Voice is the newest online opportunity for NSD teens to earn community service hours while sharing their thoughts, opinions, and expertise.   Join a group of like-minded high school students in a one hours focus group facilitated by volunteers from the Northshore Schools Foundation and/or the Northshore YMCA.

Northshore Youth Voice is about collecting your questions, not providing answers.  We will explore different topics and ask focus group members their thoughts and feedback about upcoming programs and services that are aimed at serving teens.  Your direction will inform program organizers on how to make programs more relevant and reflective of student needs.  This is not a workshop, it is a focus group to collect the advice and leadership of students.

Following each session, students who participate will receive a letter verifying one hour of community service.

To allow for as many youths to participate as possible, please limit your participation to one time every 2 months.  Thank you.

Northshore Youth Voice: Preparing for living on your own

Eventually, you will be living on your own.  What things are you wondering about how to do, but you haven’t been taught yet?  What sort of things do you hear adults talk about but have no idea what they mean?  What situations are you worried that you will not be prepared for?

Your input will be used to shape the content at Northshore Schools Foundation’s Launch Day

The program is best for students in grades 10,11, &12.

Tuesday, February 23, 3:30 -4:30 pm  Register here: https://nyslifeafterhs.eventbrite.com

Northshore Youth Voice: What if I don’t want to go to college?

Graduation is in your future, but going to college doesn’t sound like your jam. What things are you considering instead? What things do you need to know to accomplish those things?

Your input will be used to shape the content of an after high school educational series provided by the Northshore Schools Foundation or YMCA

The program is best for students in grades 10,11, &12.

Tuesday, March 9, 3:30 -4:30 pm   Register here: https://nysworking.eventbrite.com

Northshore Youth Voice: I can’t find anyone who shares my hobbies

There are literally millions of things that interest people and that people spend their time doing. Especially at this time when we can’t be together, it is sometimes hard to find other students who share your interests. Come and share your experience and expertise about things students want to be doing together, but can’t find a way to connect about it.

Your input will be shared with local nonprofits and community-minded organizations to see if coordinating or hosting activities that are named for students to participate in together.

The program is best for students in grades 8, 9, & 10.
