12 May Accepting Applications for 21/22 Youth Advisory Board for Northshore Schools Foundation
If you’re a sophomore or junior in 2021/22 the Northshore Schools Foundation is looking for you to be a part of its Youth Advisory Board.
Members will offer a youth voice to the services and programs that the Northshore Schools Foundation provides.
Candidates will gain valuable experience as an ambassador for the Foundation, learn about non-profit management, and earn community service hours.

Youth Advisory Board Job description
PURPOSE: To represent the student voice on the Northshore Schools Foundation Board; to help determine policies, procedures, and regulations to accomplish the mission and operating objectives of the organization; to raise awareness among high school peers about the work of the Foundation and to continue to be a connection between the Foundation and graduating class after high school.
TERM: One to Two years
MEETINGS: Student Board Meetings held monthly on the first Thursday of the month 5:30 – 6:45 pm from October to May. The October, December, February, April & May meetings will be in person at the Northshore School District administrative offices.
REPRESENTATION: Two representatives of each high school may serve on the student board.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Sophomore or Junior
- Positive Connection with Northshore Schools Foundation
- Reasonably well-connected across a wide range of groups
- Desire to learn about non-profit organizations, and make a difference
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide insight regarding Foundation programs and granting and future work of the Foundation.
- Attend Youth Advisory Board Meetings held monthly
- Understand and support the Foundation’s mission, objectives, strategies, and programs.
- Seek feedback from peers in order to best represent the student perspective for Foundation activities and programs.
- Be an ambassador for the Foundation in the community.
- Share information about the Foundation with your peers
- Maintain contact with the Foundation after graduation and continue to be the conduit between the Foundation and your graduating class.
- Lead at least one session of the youth advisory board meeting
- Attend at least one Foundation Board meeting during your term.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in decision-making on issues, policies, goals, and objectives based on careful consideration of the facts.
- Participate fully and openly in meetings. Share insights, ideas, and suggestions.
- Criticize, when necessary, in a constructive way. If possible, suggest an alternative course.
- Carry out all delegated assignments promptly.
- Stay informed and knows what is going on in the organization. Ask questions and request information
- Attend Foundation functions whenever possible.
- Sign and abide by the Board Member Agreement, Conflict of Interest, and Confidentiality Policy.
