Northshore Schools Foundation Blog

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, November 15- 21, is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness.

In the Northshore School District, we have currently identified nearly 200 students who are experiencing homelessness.  The Northshore Schools Foundation  provides funds to increase staff time to identify students who may qualify for McKinneyVento Services (Federal Legislation that supports students experiencing homelessness), and also to provide funds for students to have what they need to be successful.   It is our intention to continue to grow this program by both reaching and enrolling more qualified students in the process, but also expanding our emergency housing resources and the funds we have to support our students.

During Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, the Foundation will be conducting a series of live interviews about homelessness in our community.

The Schedule is TBD
