The Foundation has to continue to be innovative, to have a strong presence in our community. We rely on the Foundation.”

Eileen Jowell, Canyon Park Middle School – Dean of Students

Dear Foundation Friend,

Mrs. Fullerton’s 5th grades have new tools to make the abstract concepts of algebra more accessible. Ms. Berg’s class at Wellington Elementary learned the art of two-dimensional glass fusing. Mr. Young’s students in the Adult Transition Program created a school garden.

These are just a few examples of requests from teachers that couldn’t be met within district funds, but were made possible by philanthropy. Over the past five years, in fact, Foundation donors like you have fulfilled classroom grant requests totaling more than $226,000.  Thank you so much!

Now, this fall, we are seeing big needs. As you might imagine during this pandemic, novel and necessary new requests are coming in from across the district. And because many of these needs are emerging and urgent, we want to be able to say YES to fulfill as many of them as possible, as soon as possible.

Will you continue your support with a donation – in any amount – to help meet district-wide and classroom-specific requests this year?

Grants are essential in filling tangible needs, and we have heard that they are making a broader difference as well. Melissa Riley, Kenmore Elementary Principal, said:

“I’m going to use Dr. Reid’s phrase, imagine the possibilities. The funding of classroom grants is an actual, tangible way that teachers CAN imagine the possibilities. It really is helping to create a culture of thinking outside of the box, a growth mindset, and a culture of creativity, of positivity, and of supporting each other.”
– Melissa Riley, Kenmore Elementary, Principal

None of the Foundation’s work is possible without philanthropy. People like you – along with small businesses, parents, community groups, retired and current teachers, restaurants – sustain all that we do by replenishing much-needed funds.

“We simply can not provide these types of educational experiences without your everlasting commitment to our public schools.”
– Deborah Fullerton, Moorlands Elementary, 5th-grade teacher

I hope you’ll consider a donation today and lend your important support to Northshore students and teachers. They’re relying on us this year, more than ever.
