Announcement: Farewell to our beloved Executive Director, Carmin Dalziel

Greetings Northshore Schools Foundation Community,

I have bittersweet news to share with you today. Carmin Dalziel has resigned from her position as Executive Director effective May 31. We will miss her leadership and we are so happy for her. We wish her the best in her future endeavors!

As you may know, Carmin has been the face of the Foundation for 13 years. She built an amazing infrastructure of dedicated staff and volunteers, growing a very small nonprofit into a substantial organization that is highly thought of in our community.

Under Carmin’s leadership, the Foundation:

o  Granted more than $3 million dollars to support students and teachers

o   Provided thousands of backpacks through the Backpacks for Kids program

o   Identified Removing Barriers, Enhance and Inspire and Build Skills for Life as key focus areas.

o   Implemented the Removing Barriers program and launched the Skills 4 Life podcasts.

o   Increased staff from 1 to 4 employees

o   Secured $1 million in federal relief dollars from the City of Kenmore to allocate to residents

o  Received many nominations and awards, including the Outstanding Community Leadership and Service Certificate of Merit from the Washington Association of School Administrators; the Outstanding Human Services Program nomination from the North Urban Human Services Alliance; and many awards and nominations for Best of Northshore Non-profits.

Carmin also established a Youth Advisory Board and an endowment fund for Foundation Operations

We are so thankful to Carmin, especially for her leadership through COVID, where we were buying groceries, paying utility bills, and more to help kids.

Carmin created wonderful memories for our community: Wine walks, the Gala, PROM, Hot Chocolate Day and more. And while we were having fun at these incredible events, the Foundation was raising money to allow us to keep on removing barriers for kids.

Her contagious smile and warm, welcoming manner will be greatly missed. Walking into a room and hearing her say, “Hello beautiful!” has made my day more than once.

While at the helm, Carmin assembled a very strong staff to carry the torch and keep the Foundation doing what it does best. We also have a very strong Board of Directors to raise funds that will keep removing barriers. The future of the Foundation is in good hands.

The board has hired  HRK Advisors to help us search for a new Executive Director and we will keep you posted on our progress. A diverse group from throughout the district will participate in the interview and hiring process. Please let me know if you are interested in participating.

If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at 206-697-3989.
