Here is the basic job description

Overview

Northshore School Foundation Ambassadors help us maintain collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with individual schools and PTA’s. By collaborating, we can ensure that students receive support through their entire school career, from elementary to high school and the gaps in service and needs can be identified and addressed. Our ambassadors are the hands of our organization, making our work known to parents and teachers in our community and spreading the word about what we can do together for the good of students.

Benefits

Funding is available for any school whether or not it has an ambassador.  However, having an ambassador at the school greatly increases the chances that teachers will know about the resources that the Foundation has to offer. Having an ambassador at your school also allows the Foundation to:

  • Help you recruit volunteers for science and career fairs and other volunteer events at your school.
  • Publicize school accomplishments, drives, and community-oriented events
  • Build our services with your school’s unique community and needs in mind

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with teachers to help navigate and to be successful in the granting process
  • Spread the word to your school’s parent community about Foundation events and activities
  • Spread the word to your school’s parent community about NorthshoreGives campaigns
  • Share significant school events, accomplishments, and issues with the Foundation
  • Participate in our annual breakfast/luncheon as a table captain with guests from your school
  • Work with your school’s administrators to ensure that they are aware of and take advantage of district-wide Foundation funding opportunities that may involve a school request
  • Maintain the Foundation’s presence in your school’s office
  • Serve at your discretion on other Foundation committees
  • Work with your schools Care Team lead to raise awareness of Opportunity Funds for their school
  • Identify and communicate needs and gaps in service for students and help the Foundation find a way to address them
  • Act in accordance with Volunteer Agreement

Requirements

  • Regular access to email
  • Love of public education and a desire for community
  • Willingness to perform the Roles and Responsibilities

Time Commitment

  • 2-year term
  • Approximately 20 hours/year (about 1-2 hours a month with an additional 4-6 hours annually for Zoom or in-person meetings, working with your school educators and PTA)

Meetings

Ambassadors have a regular meeting on the second Thursday of each month at 4:00pm.  The meeting is optional.   Register for meetings here: http://nsdfoundation.eventbrite.com/
