Northshore Schools Foundation grants $3000 to provide supports for new Elementary Counselors
The Northshore School District is in the process of hiring new counselors in the district to provide more academic and social and emotional support for students. The three-year plan is to continue increasing the number of counselors within the district due to the growth in enrollment.
Currently, the district employs 8 elementary counselors that service the 16 schools identified as having the highest need. In 2020-21 every elementary school will have at least a half time counselor on campus, and in 2021-22 there will be additional counselors allocated to reflect higher population schools.
Funds granted from the Northshore Schools Foundation provide much-needed resources such as books, materials, and incentives that allow the counselors to support students, at two school sites.
