Northshore Schools Foundation has partnered with InvestEd to remove barriers for district students

Northshore Schools Foundation has formed an exciting new partnership with local nonprofit InvestEd to streamline and accelerate getting aid to secondary students in immediate need.

Across the state, InvestEd provides a way for trained school staff members to directly access a school-specific fund to cover basic needs like clothing or lunches, class fees, field trip fees, textbooks, ASB cards, or other necessary expenses that a family cannot afford for their student. Schools can easily record how and when funds were used during the year, making reporting simple and quick. And because funds are accessed directly, administrative time is greatly reduced, and privacy is respected.

“Removing Barriers” is one of the Northshore Schools Foundation priorities that provides funding for student needs that cannot otherwise be funded by public dollars.  The InvestED partnership allows the Northshore Schools Foundation to amplify their efforts by streamlining the process, increasing accountability and mobilizing the $500 matching funds made available from InvestED each year for each school.

We envision a district where all students can thrive, regardless of their family’s financial situation,” said Anthony Moran, Northshore Schools Foundation President.  “We raise funds to support student and teacher excellence, but we don’t do this work alone. Partnerships are vital, and our newest partnership with InvestEd allows our schools to be more nimble when help is needed.”

Twelve schools are participating in this program including Kenmore, Canyon Park, Skyview, Leota, Timbercrest, and Northshore  Middle Schools; Bothell, Woodinville, Inglemoor and North Creek High Schools; Secondary Academy for Success and Northshore Networks.

Thanks to an initial anonymous donation and the support of the Woodinville Chamber of Commerce, more than $43,000 has been budgeted for assistance this year.  Anyone can help grow the pool of available funds for schools. To add a donation, go to https://northshoreschoolsfoundation.kindful.com and choose “Removing Barriers” from the dropdown list.

Students seeking assistance should contact their school counselors.
